A farm restaurant set in a satoyama — a traditional landscape of woodland and farmland shaped by human use — that survives in suburban Kanagawa Prefecture. We see this satoyama, which has been maintained amid ongoing residential development, not as something to be preserved, but as an environment whose value emerges through use and renewal. Working within the regulations of the Productive Green Land system, the building is placed at the highest point of the site, and floors and steps that follow the contour lines continue inside and out, drawing the experience of the satoyama into the space. Walls mixed with soil from the site and a simple roof make the building continuous with its environment, while transparent furniture creates a place where cuisine, architecture, and landscape overlap. With food as the medium, this is architecture that rebuilds, through bodily experience, the relationship between people and the satoyama.
